Blades, so called because they are owned in part by Sheffield United FC, are well into their League season, and are in ninth position after 13 matches, most recently beating Zhejiang Lucheng 1-0 thanks to a strike from Brazillian, Rodriques Neres and will be facing Chelsea in China just before coming to England. Former Everton and Sheffield United player Li Tie is one familiar face amongst the Chengdu squad, who also feature China international Wang Song and Jamiacan international Demar Stewart amongst their ranks. Macclesfield Town chairman Mike Rance said: "Everyone at the club is eagerly anticipating welcoming Chengdu Blades to the Moss Rose. "There is a vibrant and extensive Chinese community in the North West and we are delighted to give the football fans within that community a chance to visit the Moss Rose see this game." This is not the first time the Moss Rose has hosted international opposition. As a Conference side Macclesfield Town played the touring Palestinian national side and Thailand. More recently, the ground has hosted Northern Ireland an England National Game XI match against Iraq. These international nights have without fail proved to be an excellent atmosphere and great entertainment. |
