Beijing 6 – Weekend

Quan Ju De RestaurantWeekend eventually!! I couldn't wait as the course had been pretty intense and I hadn't had the time to write or check emails properly or go to see shows or do other things that I wanted to.

I met up with my brother this evening. He came to Beijing for a weekend training course. He bought me a pair of white fabric sport shoes, very nice looking. :) I'm not planning to wear them in Beijing though, I'm sure you can guess why – Beijing is too dusty! What I was even more pleased with was that he brought me his old/extra laptop! I am using it now!! I eventually said good-bye to the pen and paper that I had been using this week :) I am not saying that writing with pen and paper is not good, it's nice to do so between friends and families (if you have the time), but once you got used to write on computer, then it's difficult to like to write with pen and paper again. Writing on computer saves so much time and effort! Don't you agree?

I have made a good friend this week, not only because we are from the same province, but we also have lots in common and we always have a lot to talk about too. She is a dancer and a choreographer, she works for the Jiangsu (province) Dance and Music Theatre, and her name is Jingwen. We seem to have the same eagerness and passion for dance and theatre. I mentioned that I wanted to see as many shows as possible while in Beijing, and she has already found a show for us to see tomorrow at the Beijing Film Academy.

Great!! I can't wait.

Beijing 7 – Peking Roast Duck

You should be jealous. I had Peking roast duck at quan ju de yesterday! I am in THE city for roast duck and quan ju de is THE place for Peking roast duck.

It was my brother's treat. We ate the no. 115,019,698 duck from quan ju de – established in 1864, the third year of Tongzhi, Qing dynasty.

Count of how many ducks served at Quan Ju De

Not only the duck, but also the duck soup, the service, the decoration of the restaurant and the whole environment are all superb!

You've got to give a try if you come to Beijing!
