Chair in Chinese Sustainable Development

Applications are invited for the post of Chair in Chinese Sustainable Development at the University of Nottingham. This post will be held jointly in the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Studies and the China Policy Institute currently located in China House on the main University Park campus.

China's rapid socio-economic transformation is having a profound impact on the natural and human environments, both within China and internationally. Achieving sustainable development in China poses major research and policy challenges.

The proposed chair will undertake academic and policy relevant research and research-led teaching in areas related to China's sustainable development, such as the environment or environmental management, political ecology, energy policy, environmental or development economics, or environmental law. Applications from outstanding candidates in any relevant discipline are encouraged, including, but not limited to geography, economics, law, social anthropology, public health or environmental sciences. The successful candidate will have a strong international reputation in one or more of the relevant fields.

The Chair in Chinese Sustainable Development will join a growing interdisciplinary team of China specialists at Nottingham working with a variety of Chinese partners and the new University of Nottingham Campus in Ningbo.

At an appropriate point in the future, the successful candidate will be expected to assume the Directorship of the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the University of Nottingham.

Salary will be within the Professorial range, minimum £46,220 pa.
