 School of Oriental and African StudiesSaturday May 5th, 6pm Room G3 FREE Open to the public The renowned qin master Lin Youren of Shanghai will be performing in SOAS, as part of his European tour. This is his only public performance in the UK. The qin occupies an iconic position in Chinese music culture - celebrated in poetry and art over centuries, its subtle and expressive timbre continues to capture the imagination of audiences around the world today. Lin Youren exemplifies the ancient tradition of the amateur gentleman scholar performer of the qin, with his meditative, Daoist-inspired approach to the instrument.
