Westminster City Council is calling on the city's finest chefs to display their culinary skills as it hosts the UK's only Chinese Masterchef event. Entries to the competition, which is being judged by flamboyant celebrity chef Nancy Lam, close on April 28.

Last winter 3000 pensioners in London died of cold related illnesses. In response the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone has joined with British Gas and Help the Aged on a campaign to give advice to older people about how to stay warm this winter.
