British-Chinese Pupils’ Identities, Education and Language Research Project

Following a successful Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded project on pupils attending weekend Chinese classes, a new PhD research project is looking at young people of Chinese heritage in England (secondary/sixth form age) who speak little/no Chinese (any dialect).

This research hopes to further explore the diverse experiences of young people from different family and linguistic backgrounds within the British Chinese community. The research aims to explore young people’s experiences in education and growing up in the UK.

Participation will only involve an individual interview which takes about 20 minutes (could be done face-to face or over the phone; arrangements agreeable to the participant/parent would be made).

Thank you very much in advance!
