Based in Manchester, China Here And There (CHAT) is a non-profit arts development organisation creating and producing new works of China-focus literature, film and theatre (written mainly in English).

The organisation was founded in the year 2000, by Dr Amy Lai, and has received funding and support from the Arts Council of England, the National Foundation for Youth Music, North West Playrights, North West Vision, and the Manchester Community Chest.

Our productions include: Taking A Liberty, The Story of Rainbow, and Lao Wai (plays); The Flower Chamber (festival-nominated short film); Finding A Voice (short story collection, Chinese perspectives on life in Manchester) and Rice Ticket (a novel set today in Beijing and Wuhan).

This month we are performing a new play called What Time Is It, Mr Wu? The performance (script in hand) is at Manchester’s Contact theatre, on Monday 19th February at 7.30pm (box office number: 0161 434 6936). We will then be developing the piece towards a full performance at the same location, in October 2007. During that time, we would like to hear from members of the UK Chinese community who wish to join our activities of new writing either on the writing, acting, directing or admin side.

Right now, we would like to hear from an actor who could play the part of a youngish (late 20s, 30s) Chinese man, free to rehearse from 16th to 19th Feb (with our script in hand performance at Contact on 19th). The work is paid.
