East Asian new writing: open call for submissions

Yellow Earth's dynamic work draws inspiration from East Asian theatre. Few in Britain are aware of the wealth of East Asian drama writing. PLAYFEST will seek to change this by promoting and disseminating the best of this work to British theatre-makers and the wider public.

We are looking for scripts from young as well as established writers, published or unpublished, exploring universal themes from an East Asian perspective. Writers from all parts of the world welcome.

Scripts should be in English (original or translated) and multilingual scripts will also be considered. Unfortunately, these cannot be returned.

PLAYFEST will select the best entries and present these during June 2002 in a unique East Asian playreading festival in London. Yellow Earth will subsequently develop one of these scripts into a full-scale production.

We hope this will be the start of an exciting adventure and help build new relationships between Yellow Earth and East Asian writers. PLAYFEST is part of 2002: Year of Diversity in the UK.
