In yesterday episode Nathan (the one who wants to be in the White House) was given the choice of living either a life of happiness or meaning.
To be happy you have to live in the present all the time with no memory of the past or thoughts for the future but a life of meaning involves analysis of the past in order to shape the future. The two paths are incompatible.
Wouldn't it be great if we can all be happy typing away at our keyboards exercising our tactile skill with no thought of the past or the future leaving weighty matters to our leaders!

Ignorance is bliss then? Smile

I'd love to adopt that policy, but in reality other people bring you back down to earth (and on occasions, 6ft down Shocked ) which is why you have to always be aware of current affairs, attitudes etc. of the people around you, just so that when the time comes and they do incite conflict, you'll actually know why Smile

Ignorant is bliss?
Last night in The cannibal who got away. He said 'When he got to France, he could not buy flesh from anywhere so he knew he had to kill someone instead'. He did and got away with it! Wink

I guess those who got to the top would happily quote us Napoleon- Glory is fleeting but obscurity is forever! Rolling Eyes

A life with no meaning doesn't always guarantee happiness, though.

I mean, look at Jade Goody! Smile
