I used to think mathematics & computers can solve just about all of the world's problems. The more I learn, the more it became clear that we humans are the problems & the solutions. Mainly the problems !

Been a bar person and there are a lot of downsides to the job. The most enjoyable bar is the one where the bar person can socialise with the punters, however, the business would be bankrupt in no time.
In a busy bar, there is no time to socialise and the work can be very demanding. I have employed many bar persons, but 'good and honest' bar persons are difficult to find, especially the ones not tempted by the continuous handling of money, at the same time, able to carry on the 'banter' with the regular customers, as well as keeping their 'cool' with 'some scrum of the earth', which we occasionally meet in our daily life.
If money is not an issue, I would not work. I would do all the things I enjoy whether it is a career or not. The word 'career' is misleading and it is a male orientated word. Woman do not have career even when they stay at home and bring up generations of well adjusted human beings. Man has a career because it is a 'status' symbol. Career equates to Money and Status, as the world sees it. Is that right? |

Ah man! Rumbled again, or was that predictable? When I was away I went to a party, it was quite dull until 'the cocktail man' came in to do his stuff, half an hour after he started it was only the women stood at the bar watching, drooling, drinking and getting quite merry, the rest of the blokes we sat chatting drinking beer.
Given the choice, the barman's only second to the cocktail man whom women flock to in order for you to get drunk? |
