Correct Keiko!

It's your turn to pose the next puzzle. |

I am waiting for someone to ask what a Japanese is doing on this forum? Well I'm one quarter Chinese so there.
My riddle:
I drive men mad for the love of me, I'm always good, yet easily beaten and never free. What am I? |

Oh I know this! But I not saying.
I assume you talk about the Russian Cosmonaut Edwina or even the big monkey thing in Tibet? If not you are way offside here! |

What I can't figure out is "easily beaten". All other clues suggest the answer is a person.
"drive men mad for me" immediately suggests "geisha"
"never free" could mean always paid.
"always good" could mean always looking good.
But "easily beaten" does not seem to fit.
Let's say it is an object, then may be a Kimono?
Since that a Kimono can easily be beaten flat to fold away or to hang up, or to wear.
Wild guess I suppose. |

well, l did think money at first but then something clicked.
this is the reasoning edwina...gold is a soft metal, hence easily beaten...and of course "good as gold"!
as this is a chinese forum, l wil now try a traditinal chinese riddle...sorry in advance for those who can't read chinese but maybe someone like xueping can provide a translation. not you edwina...cos you are rubbish...haha.
紅姑娘,住小巷
冬天短,夏天長.
clue...its an object.
alright, l will have a go at translating this:
long and red, lives in an little alley,
short on winter, long in summer.
l didn't say lady in red cos it's not really a person. |

身體圓圓肚裡空,
My body is round & my stomach is empty,
活動鏡子在當中,
a lively mirror sits inside,
無論何人見了我,
Who so ever meets me,
彎遮身子要鞠躬.
bows deep to greet me.
(I'm an object)

sorry odg or son of odg, you have to answer a puzzle correctly before you can post one, otherwise you are just jumping the queue.
besides, maybe l am thick, l am not even sure if yours is a puzzle...and even if we pm you, you MIGHT (not will) give the answer? not sure what to think of that..
anyway, over to you xueping, if you're still playing that is.
if not, l think we will be stuck here until someone decides to reveal the big "secret"..which may or may not happen...strange and mysterious...puzzling in fact! |
