Hi guys, I posted a similar thread on the events board. Thought I might get more response here. I'm hoping to branch out into wedding photography as a semi pro. I'm just wondering if you think there is a demand out there for a chinese speaking photographer who understands chinese wedding cultures etc I also do english ones though. I'm currently doing it for more or less cost price just to cover my expenses as I'm new. Have done it for a couple of friends already and so far good results. Any takers?

Cheers

David

Hello,

Let Creative-Eye tell the story of your wedding day. It will be one of the most memorable days in your life. It is our goal to ensure it is captured in the most beautiful and timeless way.

Through our reportage style photography Creative-Eye will discretly capture the emotion and details of your day.

We produce natural looking images which tells honestly and artistically each special moment.

Working as a two photographer team we are able to cover different angles and locations at the same time.

Although we cover many diverse weddings, we have much experience with Chinese weddings. I am Chinese myself and I am sympathetic to the formats and traditions of a Chinese wedding whilst offering a contempory style of photography.

Please contact the website and mention Wai.

- Awarded the Kodak Wedding Photographer Of The Year 2009 - The first Asian who was awarded such a prestigious award -

KEN LAM PHOTOGRAPHY
http://www.kenlamphotography.com

Ken Lam Photography has recently expanded its market and would love to capture more weddings outside Newcastle. Ken was born in Hong Kong, and currently resides in Newcastle, one of the most architectural city in UK.

Ken has been photographing different subjects for around 10 years. Since we started to cover weddings 2 years ago, we have been receiving a lot of positive feedback from our clients. These valuable compliments are our drivers, and motivates us to aim for the highest standard of wedding photography at each and every wedding.

Background of Ken Lam Photography:
Ken’s unique style is in his ability to capture naturalness in delicate emotions and intimate moments. He believes that no two weddings are the same, however, ultimately the end results are the same - that is, a portrayal of beauty, love, and happiness through his photography. His preferred style of wedding photography is photojournalistic; a candid, documentary and unobtrusive approach. Capturing human emotions in its most natural form.

During this short period of time, Ken’s wedding portfolio has earned him a highly prestigious membership with the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), an international photography association that represents the most discriminating talent around the world technically, creatively and visually. Less than 5% of the world’s photographers qualify for this membership with the WPJA. This serves as a recognition to his talent and professionalism of his photography.

In January 2009, two of his photographs have been awarded "Top 20 Photograph" in the pretigious AGWPJA (Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalist Association) competition for the Creative Portrait and Reception Ambiance categories. In Oct 2009, he was awarded the title "The Kodak UK Wedding Photographer Of The Year 2009" - One the most prestigious award in UK.

Apart from covering European weddings, Ken also specialises in Chinese and Asian wedding as well. He speaks fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Therefore, he fully understands the needs and traditions of a Chinese/Asian/fusion of Chinese-English wedding.

Hello,

Was wondering if anyone knows enough on the chinese wedding venues available in London for the best photos?

As the chinese wedding banquet is not normally for the full day- how will the photographer be charged?

Just want to share my experience with you guys. We just got married in April and we got Ryan from Moo Photography to do our wedding. At first, I was reluctant to get a Chinese photographer, as I have seen some really cheesy stuff from friends who used ones from Chinatown. Luckily, my wife to be convinced me to use Moo Photography, after checking out their website.

They were amazing. I couldn't be more happy with the pictures. Ryan was also really helpful and knowledgeable in sorting out the Chinese customary bits too, as our parents weren't too sure about the customs, especially in organising the Chinese tea ceremony procedures.

I hope this helps.

Toby

LOL I think I know what you mean, IMHO most photos taken in HK are cheesy enough but the ones taken in China gives your average block of Cheddar good run for its money. Very Happy

Hi,

As a Chinese wedding photogrpaher, most of my clients are non chinese but I would love to shoot more chinese weddings, they always seem fun.

I didn't want to say it, but someone else on the forum has already mentioned the cheesy chinatown photographers, I don't want to mention names but I know of a certain chinatown wedding company that uses part time student photographers to shoot their weddings, which I find shocking as it is someone's big day.

My advice is when you look for a photographer ask, not for their studio shots or, model shots but of the last three weddings they shot. That will be an indication of what their quality is. The key to telling if they use models is that they usually just have a couple and don't have images of any real wedding stuff going on.
