What's important to you about travel in London - we breathe right? So travel affects us one way or another. So what matters to you - and why?
Especially if you're under 25 - is it good bad, do you care??????
Tell me anything worth reading, I wanna know! |

Personally, I think it's a good thing to breathe. Not sure with others, but air is a wonderful thing to have. Breathe in - Pffffftttt - and out - Phoooooooo.
It feels so good. I also think it's important to be able to go places when we're talking about travel. |

| I'm asking people to name the things about travel in London that they like (ease of geting around etc.), dislike or are concerned about (the environment etc). The Chinese Community in London is not often listened to - especially the young Chinese Londoners. |

well ok, if you insist... the tube is a bit of a nightmare, it's slow, often delayed, dirty, expensive and inefficient.
Have you ever been on the tube in HK? Its a totally different experience. Trains are on time, it's clean, comfortable, you can use your ph0ne down there. Altogether less stressful.
The buses in London are ok, but obviously not practical for long trips as they can be quite slow... |

How about:
Overcrowded and under maintained roads
Overcrowded, expensive and dirty public transport
On the plus side, the transport links to practically everywhere in London is good, it's just getting to them that's the problem.
If they banned cars from the square mile and put money into public transport by increasing the numbers of buses and trains/tubes which run, it may go some way to resolving the issue.
Provision and increasing the number of cycle lanes would also be of benefit, give cyclists the right of way over motor vehicles and the change in peoples attitude will soon follow.
Everywhere else in the world seems to do public transport a lot better than here, cycling abroad is also encouraged a lot more than it is here, just look at places like Holland and Denmark. |

| good point ex vag - cyclists are practically ignored. cycle paths end abruptly, the traffic is pretty dangerous, there isn't any incentive to teach your kids to cycle as there's nowhere safe for them to do it. Unfortunately most of us don't live next to a park, we have to use our bikes to get there, and we can't cycle on the pavements... |

I always think that travel's there to get you from A to B to live your life.
Cycling is very important to a lot of us - there are schemes out there, and it's worth checking out the TfL website to find out about them - like tihe new safety proficiency thing for adults and children. |

ok ,well on monday it took me 1 1/2 hr to get into work for what is usually a 30-40 min journey. this has happened 2x in the last month on the central line which is pretty crap, especially as the fares are so high.
what are you going to do with all this feedback? i appreciate you asking, but you can actually make a change ? |

I have given up using London. Once I used to go into Chinatown to meet friends. However, having ceased working in London, I find the journey stressful.
The public transport is chaotic, lacks the ease of use I had experienced in Hong-Kong and Singapore ( the Underground). The roads are congested, the cost of getting around in London expensive and unenjoyable. The pollution is unpleasant.
The joys of Chinatown had since been replaced by various centres like Oriental City, Greenwich, Croydon, the facilities in the new areas in Docklands and its surrounding areas.
The joy of shopping had been replaced by places like Bluewater, Lakeside, Milton Keynes, and other major out of town shopping.
I still would consider a day out to the theatres, shows, special events, etc but cost and time would be the limiting factors in my decision. |
