The main things that I'm concerned about is being able to find a job when my Cantonese is extremely broken, and how easy it is to get into the animation industry at a junior position when, again, my Cantonese is rubbish!
Also, is living there much different than living in the UK?

Next time you visit Hong Kong, visit families and friends and assess whether you like it there. We all have unique feelings about the same places. It is how you will feel that matters.

If I go and live in Hong Kong, I can live with my mum half way up the mountains, and life would be rather similar to living in a nice suburb in UK.

Living in the city, the lower storeys tend to be noisy, and air quality poor, but air filters can be installed to get rid of particulates. I love the bustle and convenience of the city. It is a very safe place too. Crime rate is 11.7 per 1000 people, compare to 85.6 per 1000 in UK.

Whether you like crowds is important. Some love them, some hate them.

Enquire about health care too. Life expectancy is very high indeed.

Assuming you've not been to HK much, you have to be very open minded and expect it to be very different. Yes, prepared to be culture shocked. It's one of the most fast paced city in the world. Depending what job you are looking for Cantonese is not really essential, HK is after all a former colony of Britain so you'll find a lot of information in English.
