Hi -

I am a white guy originally from the UK who currently lives in HK and has done for a number of years. My partner is a local HK lady who I have been with for a number of years now.

It's coming to the time where I want to move back to the UK - however I don't quite know where it might be best to be based. My career will take me to anywhere in the southern half of England (south of Shewsbury to Lincoln-ish, as it were ), but outside of the big cities. I have not yet exactly figured where I might go, as am still exploring options.

Her English language is OK-ish, but lacking in the idioms of everyday UK life. She's open minded, but shy.

Does anyone out there have an idea as to how she can gain a small-ish circle of Cantonese speaking friends ?

It may seem odd to post such a topic on a website I have only just come across, but I'm hoping that maybe I can gain some form of off-beat advice and context to help me and her to understand how she can help to settle in - in particular as to where in my locational area described above there may be a vibrant Chinese origin community that could help her to keep in touch with her roots.

Any replies gratefully received !

Many thanks
