This article in Sing Tao (UK) newspaper. This is
my friends brief summary of the article. (Translation of name
may not be correct) 27-28 March 2004 Page 11.
Kids hoping to find Chinese foster parents
A 58-year-old Mr Chong married to 32 year old Ms Ho
from China in 1998. They lived happily in the UK and
had a good marriage. They had 3 children who is now
aged 4, 2 and 5 months respectively.
In 2003, When Mrs Chong was pregnant with the third
child; Mr Chong suffered a stroke, which rendered him
with poor memory, reduced hearing and significantly
less able to look after himself.
Shortly after the child was born, Mrs Chong was
diagnosed with advanced stages of cancer, and she died
on the 12th March 2004.
Mr Chong is unable to look after the children
probably, and has agreed to have the children fostered
and eventually adopted. He would prefer the children
to go to Chinese parents who can teach them about
Chinese culture.
The youngest is in the process of being adopted, and
the two eldest children are currently being
temporarily looked after by British fostered parents.
Southend-On-Sea Borough Council, Department of Care,
(01702534992) will put the 2 eldest girls into care if
no suitable foster parents are found soon.
If you are interested in fostering these young
children please get in touch with Southend Borough
Council as soon as possible. Otherwise, please pass on
this message and spread the word. |

Thanks Assis for posting the story of the girls.
I've received some news from my colleague, he said,
"The good news, a lot of people rang Social Services (by the way, the number on Sing Tao is wrong, and of course its the social services' mistake); but the bad news is too many people express interest Social Services does not know what to do.
I called on Monday, they have a lot of people call, kept all the numbers and will call back; no news by wednesday, I called again, they only interest in whether my contact can take all three children; I consulted the couple and call again on thursday. By thursday, teh answer, is 'the social service has not decided whether to have the childen put for adoption and still considering the options.
I have another friiend called and said he has a million couples want to take all three, the couple called social services everyday, and went through th eidentical experience I had.
The real problem is we do not have direct contact with the family, if we can find the family and speak with teh father, there may be ways to cut short the bureacracy." |
