In 1982 there was a conference report entitled 'The Silent Minority' about the Chinese Community in Great Britain. A lot has changed since 1982 (this very site is a positive sign of change), yet why are there still so few studies delving deeper into the British Born Chinese experience?

Despite the rare few, the majority of literature sticks to the usual take away experience and dispersed community trope, but where do British Born Chinese people belong in these dialogues? How do YOU feel about your identity?

I'm a York University student completing a study on British Born Chinese and mixed heritage Chinese in Britain to explore and bring awareness to these issues. I'd love for you to be involved.

Involvement can range from filling out a short questionnaire or writing/talking to me about your experiences.

Just email sophielee8@gmail.com or sl571@york.ac.uk for a questionnaire or further details about me and the study.

Do we have to be the silent minority?
