Ok guys, I'm new here and I've just registered :)
I was just wondering if there's like a massive racism thing going on between peeps from HK, Canton, Mainland and British Borns? From a few of the post I've read on forums it seems like they don't get on!
Peace :) xxx |

don't forget the malaysian chinese.
Most of the time all is well but there are some who don't get on too well.
Lucifer
Isaiah 14:12
(in the sense of brightness); the morning star: lucifer (the king of Babylon). Satan is the false morning star. Christ is the true morning Star.
What are you ? |

Yes. They're the worse ones.
Welcome to the forum - i've only been here a short time too.
The forums are a bit comatose - probably a reflection of chinese intellectual activity. It's always helpful to read threads from other people's perspectives too. Particularly from people who are trying to understand other sub-cultural groups.

You''ll have to explain yourself. 'A massive racism thing'?? Like the European extermination of Jews? Or Kosovan-Serb exterminations under Milosovic? Bradford and racial tensions? |

I think he is asking if there are any problems with the various chinese groups getting on with each other.
I'm an outsider (being white) but I do see some small problems. These tend to be the HK being fed up with the mainlanders opening too many take aways in any given area.
The Malay chinese, as a rule, tend to stay here 2 or 3 years and work hard to get cash to buy a house or business back home.
They often seem popular with take aways and restaurants as they, as a rule, speak mandarin and cantonese in addition to english.
If I had a favorite group I would have to say Malay chinese . They have a kindness of heart that knows no bounds. (most, anyway) |

is this the same when you go over to the far east? i'm interested in whether the mainland chinese dislike the hk's or BBC's, or the rest of the disaspora?
The vietnamese certainly hate the overseas viet's, but that might be because of the recent history... |

I'm a British Chinese girl myself- but my roots are in Mainland China. When I said 'massive racism' I just meant prejudice across the different groups of Chinese. Personally I've got friends who are Mainland, British chinese, Malaysian Chinese, Cantonese, HK and BBCs! (Quite a mix really lol- tho my mates don't necessarily know each other) and we get on ok but I do notice there's divisions and frictions at times! I have heard Mainlanders complaining of other groups and have come across antipathy from the other groups for being from the Mainland.
I was just interested in the opinions of ppl who go on these forums :)
I do find that the people who live here who come from the Taiwan seem to hate me and I got stick from this guy for being 'Chinese' when he himself was from Hong Kong- since when was Hong Kong a country??!!!
Peace to all
