BEIJING (AP) - China has banned television and radio ads for push-up bras, figure-enhancing underwear and sex toys in the communist government's latest move to purge the nation's airwaves of what it calls social pollution.

Regulators have already targeted ads using crude or suggestive language, behavior, and images, tightening their grip on television and radio a few weeks ahead of a twice-a-decade Communist Party congress at which some new senior leaders will be appointed.

The latest move by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, or SARFT, also bans advertisements for sexual aids such as tonics that claim to boost performance in bed.

The notice indicated that regulators were concerned about both lascivious imagery and outrageous or insupportable claims about some products' benefits or effectiveness.

"Illegal 'sexual medication' advertisements and other harmful ads pose a grave threat to society," said the SARFT notice, issued in the past week and posted on the administration's Web site.

"They not only seriously mislead consumers, harm the people's health, pollute the social environment, and corrupt social mores, but also directly harm the credibility of public broadcasting and affect the image of the Communist Party and the government," the notice said.

China has already also issued strict rules for TV talent shows, including the banning of "American Idol"-style mass audience voting by m0bile ph0ne text message or the Internet.

A few weeks ago, SARFT ordered 11 radio shows off the air in southern and central China for talking too explicitly about sex or for broadcasting material of an "extreme pornographic nature."

Regulators have also banned television shows about cosmetic surgery and sex changes, and a talent show that they deemed coarse.

I would like to know who and how these banning decisions are made.
A dialogue in this area would be constructive and important.

I can see that China has a very unhealthy distribution of the sexes (too many male migrants) in many cities, and a female population with rather small breasts by world standard.

So constantly showing sexual suggestions on TV would rouse the lonely males too much, and promoting push up bras & cosmetic enhancement would give the females a sense of inferiority but gives the males unrealistic expectations.

Bad quality reality TV sets bad behavioural examples for a population which already experience too much stress.

It makes sense in the present circumstances in China to impose those bans.

In UK, shows like Wife Swap ended in pointless rows in the early episodes. They've learned to turn the show into constructive learning for both families nowadays. Now that is worth watching.

There is nothing wrong with our Chinese womanhood. What we have is in proportion to our petite Asian bodies.

Why should we aspire to gross western standards which would make us look deform?

But why men find huge dead-white udders flap around a womans waist attractive? Does this mean if mens parts were the size of footballs dangle around their knees women would be turn on?

If I look like some western woman I would have surgery to remove. I like my figure. Never had any complaint either. Mind you I would kill man if he did.

Men's attraction goes far beyond the physical. The wallet and the mentality. Very Happy

Wallets get fatter as they age, and so do the mentality.

Women has a depreciating asset as far as beauty goes. Confused

The one problem with being chinese is we keep our complexion nice but then one day when we about 60 we put on 100 year overnight.

The one essential thing we have to learn is to moisturize.

We are very lucky. What is a T/A so I can avoid one?

Does working in a chicken processing plant help?

I think habits play a large part in white ageing.

They have lilly white delicate skin, yet go to beaches to fry themselves. Luckily, the message is getting through that this causes rapid ageing & cancer.

Smoking, late nights, excessive alcohol & other excessive indulgence all cause ageing, in particular smoking & various drugs - illegals or prescribed medecines.

Once these habits are not taken up, I expect our skins would be equal.

Disagree, I think a lot of it is genetic as well. How many caucasian in their 30's look in their 20's? hardly any. And they don't all lead unhealthy lifestyles.

It's like saying give a white person a pair of decent trainers and he'll run as fast as a black person being chased by the KKK! Rarely does it happen (Craig Pickering being an exception).

Siu Mai will be at your throat to report you to the CRC for promoting racial superiority ideas. Shocked
