Showart, I think you have personal issues which need resolving which is causing you to react to a statement that has NO correlation to racism aimed at chinese people.
Not a personal dig at you, but from your opening post you weren't sure of what "chinese zoots" meant yet a few posts after, you seem to know quite alot about urban culture?
I agree with Jeff on this one showart, just because this is a british chinese community forum, it doesn't mean everyone will jump on the bandwagon just because a fellow chinese person says so.
If you want to take action why dont you sue them and do something about it rather than sitting on your ass moaning about it on a chat forum.
People get "tired" of hearing the race card being called and gets damn annoying when it is blatently obvious racial tension has nothing to do with it in some cases.

So you're going champion the cause right? How about trying to get some Chinese music played on the Asian network? Whilst you're at it, I'm sure our Japanese and Korean friends would like to ehar music from their home land too. Last time I checked the atlas, China, Japan and Korea were in the continent of Asia! |
Still no action from you showart on the above, Chinese rights and all that yeah? Bit quiet when it actually requires you do take action eh? |

Vag Re: finding out about Chinese Zoots...i'd written to the BBC Radio 1 you fool! that's action isn't it?! pay attention kid.
Re: Chinese music on Asian Network. Why don't YOU do someting about that if you care so much about it VAG! I don't care about the asian network. Chinese are referred to as EAST Asian nowadays in the UK anyway
i've found out it's vietnamese weed that's strong - so it's not even Chinese anyway but they still must call it that on the street.
I know a bit about urban culture, obviously more than some smug, out-of-touch and proud types here! (e.g. sui and munter)same ammount as the average under 40 Londoner i would have thought. what a waste of time!!!!!!!!
Other minority races in the uk are so much more assertive and stand up for themselves - whether it's blacks, irish or pakistanis. You lot'll catch up in a generation or so.
I've had my say now goodbye. |

| I think u guys are being a bit harsh to Showart. He was querying rather than accusing. He's not 'just playing the race card', but had a question that he thought other forum members cld answer. Just cos you don't agree doesn't mean you have to start slagging him and his thread off. |

Well done, must have taken you a while to finger poke that email to them, 10 minutes? Now that's real action, you should be proud of yourself.

Why don't I? 'Cos I'm not the one here spouting sh*t about racism and looking for reasons to throw my toys out of the prams playing the racsim card.

You know sometime I think we hate each other more than we hate anyone else. Is like warring kingdom period on this site someday. Maybe this is sign that we happy and well-adjust and integrate into society. After all we being here in UK 400 year, nobody been here longer except Jews and French and you know how well British and French get on!
So what are “Jamaica Tings”? |

Mr Minter & ex-VAG,
Shame on you to be so rude & indifferent to Showart's concerns.
You should read up Emotional Intelligence and abandon the teenage monster behaviour.
KICK -> ((((Minter + ex-VAG))) - - - > [[door]]
Goal !
Thanks Showart. |

Awww that's twice in a day you've told me off now Edwina
I don't think I was rude, I was merely picking holes in his argument. |

I was NOT slagging off showart, I was merely saying that if he already knew the answer to the thread question, then what was the point in asking it in the first place. He started a thread topic about "chinese zoots" and didn't have a clue what it was, and then two posts later he said he is quite knowledgeable with urban culture and Dizzi Rascal.
Also, he started off saying that "chinese zoots" doesn't hold any racial connotation at all towards the chinese race and then carried on saying that if you aren't affected by racial insults, then there is something wrong with you (in a sarcastic tone) towards Jeff Minter.
Showart's posts are full of contradiction.
Tenpence, if someone brings a debate on a discussion forum, of course there will be conflicting views, hence the idea of having discussion forums so people get an all round view of a discussed topic. |

By the way, I am probably more of a minority than most of the members on this forum and I never complain about this. I accept myself for who I am and that is what matters the most in most cases.
It's not about standing up for yourself, its about learning how to ignore dickheads who can't act appropriately towards other people (the minority) who they fear are a threat to themselves. |
