I missed 1/2 of this when it was broadcast earlier in the day, but the whole programme can be watched on the web by following this link:-

This is an insightful documentary that chinese would be proud of.

It explained in detail Deng Siu Ping's tremendous contribution to the modernisation of China, and also what was the Tiannamen Sq. 1989 demonstration was all about.

I'm so so glad that the sale of the Hummer brand to a chinese manufacturer is to be blocked, otherwise it would surely be capitalism gone too far:-

Oh I dont know, there are Hummers in the PRC. I remember nearly been crushed when I was in a ratty Renault taxi on QianMen Xi DaJie by some 红太子 in a huge bright yellow Hummer. They were playing 北京,北京,我爱北京 on Nuclear Powered Sound System. Scare the daylights out of me!

Best to stay out of the way. A Hummer weighs 5 tons which can turn obstacles into pan cakes as effectively as tanks.
