Hi all,

Dimsum has always been involved in cultural issues and our contributors have written articles and opinion pieces on the subject. We are involved in a conference to discuss what museums can do for the British Chinese community and we're keen to get some feedback from Chinese people in the UK to help museums better cater for them.

Do you go to museums? Do you find them interesting and attracting or cold and uninviting? What do you think about Chinese-themed exhibitions? Do you think museums could be doing more to work with a Chinese audience? Do you think that museums have a role to play in showcasing and preserving British Chinese culture?

There will be a number of influential people at the event and this could present a good chance to have the British Chinese community's voice heard by those who could actually make a difference.

Luke

in the V & A museum, right in the middle of the china section-theres a kiddies play area, which i personally feel kind of ruins the atmosphere.

and considering how many artefacts have been stolen or broken in london museums...it just shows how badly organised the museums are.

a couple of years ago, some guy broke a chinese vase in a museum, because he didnt tie his shoelaces up, and was falling down the stairs, and grabbed the vase, which obviously fell and broke. how disrespectful was that guy.

the chinese new year festivities in london museums were interesting, there was a photography exhibition of chinese in britain, and there was a photo albulm of letters written in chinese and old pictures, and there was a really random yet interesting wardrobe with letters, pictures, and drawings stuck inside. the exhibition was really ridiculously small and more effort was needed.
