A modern version of one of W. Shakespeare's most famous tragedy 'KING LEAR' is currently touring UK after making a successful international debut in Shanghai last month. This play is a co-production between Yellow Earth Theatre (UK) and the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre (China), and it is performed in English and Mandarin. The venues for this play in UK are Stratford-upon-Avon, Nottingham, Guildford, Wolverhampton, Liverpool and London. For more information, logon Yellow Earth Theatre's website: www.yellowearth.org
The local Chinese press in the UK has given a lot of coverage to this bi-lingual production. Hopefully, the play will inspired British born Chinese and East Asian to have an interest in the performing arts. _________________ sunnyoy |

" King Lear " will be performing in Vanbrugh Theatre, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), Malet Street, London WC1 from 6th to 9th December 2006 after making a successful tour in the UK having performed in the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon; Nottingham; Guildford; Wolverhampton and Liverpool, as part of the Shakespeare's Complete Works.
The reviews of the above play have generally been good so far and I have posted same in the main Culture column vide:

It is hoped that on reading the said reviews, it would encourage you to go
and see the play in London. By doing so, you will be supporting the
peforming arts that will be beneficial to the East Asian communities in Britain via Yellow Earth Theatre. _________________ sunnyoy |

Glad you went to see it last night ' tenpence '. I was there too, and seeing it for the second time round in London was even better than the first time in Shanghai. The casts performed really well and very polished with their lines in both Shakespeare's English and Chinese Mandarin.
You will never see a better bi-lingual Shakespeare's play in UK for many years to come. So, if you can, go and see it. There are three performances left. One for tonight at 7.30 p.m. , and two more for tomorrow (last day) at 2.00 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Don't miss it ! _________________ sunnyoy |
