also i don't get why this country has to actually give money to kids to encourage them to study. the education maintenance allowance is such a crazy concept. half of the world probably doesnt have the luxury of education, and this country is so desperate to keep kids in school that they have to bribe them into staying in college?! this country has a great educational system i think, it must be since it attracts so many international students.
shouldn't those kids stay in college because they want more qualifications?! and i think its even more ridiculous that the kids have free bus travel on top of that!

yeah, i have to agree with you on all that

the BBC really likes to portray stereotypes of chinese people as pirate dvd sellers don't they...first eastenders...and now holby city. personally i'm not really offended by it, but i have to laugh at the pure ridiculous portrayal of a chinese man in holby city, who threatened to basically chop up the doctor if he doesn't give him medicine. and then there was something about how chinese herbal medicine won't help, and then the character of the translator says that she thinks he's a triad. they also portray him as a smoker, with a large family. bit random how they chose cantonese actors, instead of mandarin speakers.

the BBC are really random.

when you consider how many british born chinese people are employed by the bbc, which is not a lot it's hardly surprising is it? though tv in general is rubbish in the UK anyway, which is why i hardly watch it these days

crazy government for giving the unemployed benefits for being lazy, whilst everyone else has to work twice as hard to make a decent amount of money cos the money gets taxed to pay for stupid stuff like unemployment benefits or for kids to go college!

the worrying trend of young kids drinking/smoking/taking drugs/shooting/stabbing/stealing/getting asbo's and whatever idiotic stuff kids get up to these days.

the other worrying trend of prisons running out of space, and the 'genius' idea of sorting this problem out by letting prisoners out early. i say knock down bloody mansions and big houses which celebrities have in which like 2 people live in but there is like millions of unused rooms-waste of bloody land and space! even more annoying that there are homeless people out there and yet some people decide to just waste land space of building a stupidly ridiculous sized house to house 2 people in-that space could be used to build homeless shelters or more prisons lol.

lol

and three more words: TRANSPORT FOR LONDON (tfl)

I can't believe i had to pay a pound for the worst bus journey on monday, and i can't believe the tube station closed early at 5pm when the strike was supposed to happen at 6pm.

Nothing wrong with that, don't say you've never done it?

I'm with you there on the benefits, all we do is pay tax, tax on everything. Anyone realise that we pay around 70% tax overall, we only take home 30% of our pay if you tale all the deductions into account? Shocking.
The governement are also reluctant to bring in a more secure way of obtaining benefits (ID card anyone?) ok so this will be expensive to implement, it run's into billions, but all this is recouped in less than 4 years by cutting down/out the fraudulent claims and it will begin to pay for itself within an election term. No one wants to implement it due to the timescale which is roughly an election term as they don't want to risk being out of office and let the next incumbent have the benefit of the money saved and the 'prestige' of being able to announce a fall in fraudulent claims in their tenure.

This can be pointed back at the government as an education issue, all the cutbacks in education over generations has led to this, with uneducated children having kids and not knowing how to bring them up or behave in a civilised society and so the cycle continues until this is tackled at grass roots.
Part of the blame can be pointed to immigrants/asylum seekers who come here with nothing and nothing to lose, so why not carry guns/weapons and commit crime, if they get away with it then great, if not they've still got 3 square meals a day and a roof over their heads. Obviously this doesn't apply to all, but it's the minority who spoil it for the majority as always.

Unfortunately this is one of the benefits of living in a capitalist society, why shouldn't we be able to buy bloody big mansions if we've worked hard enough for it? Why should you dictate how I spend my money?
The problem is not with the people who have money but the people who run the country and the lawmakers. Who thought it was a good idea to abolish the death penalty? The same people who thought discontinuing national service no doubt?! What do we end up with, a lawless society where the youth have no skills, ambition, desire... couple that with the cutbacks in education and of course you're going to have crime and criminals. Open your borders to more and more people without checks on history or suitability and you're asking for trouble.
