Do BBC's love durian as much as people in asia? have our tastebuds been ruined by sheperds pie and fish and chips?
I personally love it, but I know a lot of BBC's that dont! They;re really missing out! |

I confess i've never tasted Durian before. It says in the link below that Durian is banned on public transport in Singapore so it must smell bad! :

My Granma in HK loved Durian and she said it was very nutritious. |

| I'm a sucker for durians. I can detect and hone in on the location from a mile away. I love the smell, know alot of ppl who don't. Don't let that fool you, you should taste it before condemning it. I have seen a taiwanese run a mile whenever he smells durian, but since being persuaded to taste a tiny amount he now runs towards it when he sees it. Go on, give it a try! But do make sure you try only good quality ones, the cheap ones ruin the taste. |

I'm a mandarin speaking white bloke married to an indonesian and I still hate the stuff.
Stinks and tastes like socks I've been wearing for a week in summer. |

Tigers eat durians too. The reason it smells like 'rotting flesh'. The description of the experience of eating durian? 'Taste like heaven, stinks like hell'.
Ever eaten or been in the same room as the most stinky 'cheese'?. My first experience of cheese was that 'it smells like urine'. Now I enjoy a variety of cheese, with chutneys & pickles.
Ever watch 'Ray Mears'? Take guts to be that 'open'. However, of course, it is his 'joh'.
I still love 'durian' but even locals cannot stand the smell. |

I'm a BBC and I LOVE durian! I did hate the smell of it to begin with but it's just too damn tasty!
I think once you like it, the smell actually starts to smell good, rather than stale farts... lol |

I love durian very much. This so called 'King of Fruit' is part of my eating itinerary when I visit Malaysia.
Saw this article (about durian) and thought it might be of interest to readers in this Forum who love eating this fruit. Log onto:

Durian is not as easily accessible in UK. what you find in chinese supermarkets is imported so not as fresh as what you get in Asia. Also, it is very expensive. So I usually eat durian in Asia.
I must admit that I actually like desserts with durian in it more than I like plain durian: durian ice cream (all over Asia), durian stick rice (Thai dessert), and durian egg custard (you can get this from the egg custard specialist in the food court of the Pavillion shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur).
In London, there is a chinese restaurant in Gants Hill called Mandarin Palace that serves durian in flaky baked pastry that is heavenly. |
