I know this is my first post, I just discovered this wonderful DimSum site and love the articles and the community! I hope to post more in the future, but I promise this is not spam Smile

I'm Lee and I'm a BBC who lived in the UK for over 30 years. I'm now living in Hong Kong.

I've created a free social group for Born Overseas Chinese in Hong Kong which has been running for not more than 2 months and has over 70 members already! We expect to be over 200 by Christmas, and hopefully have a crazy New Year's Party!

Being Chinese who grew up in England, I know that many Chinese in the UK are probably curious about Hong Kong but don't really come here because they may feel intimidated by a language that they don't speak well or they don't have many friends over here. Aside from relatives, I didn't have any friends in HK, and my Cantonese is terrible!

The purpose of this group is to bring together Chinese of different backgrounds in Hong Kong for networking and above all lots of FUN!

You don't have to be fluent in Cantonese since all of the members speak English.

We've had a couple of extremely successful meetings already. Everyone is fun, and there is a good showing... the group membership is growing exponentially already, particularly as word of mouth spreads quickly here.

It's currently a Meetup group, but there is a website in the works. I will continue to keep the group free for everyone as I set it up as a non-profit organization.

So the next time you come to Hong Kong, check us out and meet other BBCs, ABCs, etc... for lots of fun Smile

Hello Lee and Friends,

I am part of Lee's group, and I will be going to Hong Kong this Dec/Jan to meet other westernized Chinese too.

It would be really nice if you could join me (females preferred though) OR if you know other expat Chinese in HK, please mention me to them.

In 2009, I will also be going to China and HK, maybe from July to Sept to either volunteer / learn Tefol and travel north/south of China.
