Must be my sheltered life but could someone explain what a Lady Boy is ? i'm not really quite sure and the reason i ask is that one of the girls in my tobacconists mentioned that a 'lady boy" contest was being organised in Ayr in SW scotland.
i must admit i feigned slight knowledge but the subject moved on to my complete ignorance was left unexposed as it were. i would be grateful if someone could tell me in not too great depth what lady boys are and the signifigance of the term. i do know that it has something to do with female impersonators but wherein lies the competative spirit etc. |

Lady boys are usually used for boys who dress up as girls in Thailand. Many of whom have also under gone Male-to-Female hormone treatment, and some have gone the whole way through surgery to change their anatomies to female. Many thousands of pounds may be spent to reach perfection.
Lady boys are becoming more used now in addition to the terms transexual, transgender, transvestites, cross dressers, she-males, inter-sex, 3rd sex, drag queen, . . . and so on.
Some people are very sensitive to which terms are used on them as if there are clearly defined classifications for the terms, which is just not true. |

well thanks Edwina darling, i get the picture in my own way and will be mindful of the possibilities in future.
its just the sort of thing which could get me into a home for the bewildered if i got things wrong. i remember many years ago encountering a very good looking woman who was a woman but had the hairiest chest i ever saw in my sweet young life. i always wondered why she didnt shave her wispy beard and moustache but one was brought up in those days to refrain from staring at what one might consider odd or remarkable. and one would never ever on any account draw attention to such a phenomena by making personal remarks.
its the mark of a good upbringing to ignore the obvious, its a good tactic in dealing with muggers also. muggers are inclined to avoid me after one encounter because i have so much junk in my pockets, too much to say and they are always in such a frightful hurry.
by the way
i was thrashed at tennis the other day by an 89 year old woman.
and i was once suckered by a woman who i would describe as a black widow spider with dowager's hump so i know how to admit my short comings. |
