'Min Quan' means 'civil rights', and Min Quan is a charity that provides legal advice and support to the UK Chinese community in exercising their civil liberties. On behalf of the victims, we liase with relevant organisations on matters of racial harassment, domestic violence and police misconduct. We also provide resources and training on accessing the Chinese community.
It is a commonly held belief that racism against the Chinese community is rare or non-existent. On the contrary Min Quan's casework history demonstrates that the racism experienced by British Chinese people is frequent and severe. It is an important part of our purpose to share our knowledge of how racism operates with respect to the UK Chinese community. We hope that this awareness will encourage British Chinese people and the wider community to adopt approaches of practical anti-racism. |
