Once again today, I hear a 85 years old, trying to convince herself, she does not need 'anyone' or 'depend on anyone'.
What an illusion and emphatic self denial.
Whenever I hear this 'self denial' and 'self deception'; I think of the heartache, such sad, lonely and selfish people cause to their family.
My answer to that is 'Every person is dependent on another person. Even if you are dead, you will need the help of someone known or unknown to yourself, to get rid of your carcass'.
If we stop denying our emotional and psychological dependence on our friends and family, we will have a chance of living a successful fulfilled life.
Today, I receive an email from a friend I have not seen since my early teens. She was a close friend at the time, we lost touch for nearly four decades. With her email, my happy past connects with my present. The present is good and the past is a valuable part of the present.
We all need friends and families to make our life meaningful. Only a sad lonely person does not need anyone. What a waste of a life. |
