Did you see the Matthew Norman restaurant review of
'Haozhan' in last Saturday's Guardian (27 October
2007)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/weekend/story/0,,2198973,00.html

Do you think he is being racist and making out
that Chinese people are rude, dirty and a menace to
society? it does seem a bit like that!
If you think so, pls can you complain to
the Guardian's Readers' Editor? Her details are below:

I think you need to get that chip removed!

Ok so he sets the scene in the 3rd and 4th paragraph but read it and you'll see he reflects back to times gone by as well mock those who taunted with lines from films.

It was an excellent article which did nothing but praise the establishment from the surrounding, the service to the food.

Jeebuz. WTF? is this person for real?

You bring shame on your own people. Instead of feeling violated why dont you protest at Parliament Square "Chinese feel racial remarks aimed at them in every instance" ¬__________¬ *drone drone drone zzzzz...*

I wish people would stop trying to cause a race war at every opportunity. Do whites get upity every time someone make remarks about them being fat or spotty?

Not that I mean to offend of course, I have lots of white friends and have deepest respect for their historic culture and achievements. Laughing Very Happy

ex-VAG's assessment is correct. It takes quite a high standard of english to appreciate the merits of this article.

Pity though, no excuse to KICK ass.

But hell, why do I need an excuse?

Here we go:-

FLYING KICK - - - > (((ex-VAG))) - - - > [[restaurant toilet]]

Decided to read the article. Wonder where the Guardian dug the writer out of off. ? A dusty archived box. He writes as if he had been in storage since the 1970s, whilst the rest of world,(including Chinatown) had evolved without his knowledge. Then all of a sudden, he had woken up like Cinderella, and was astonished by the changes around him.

I do not find him racist. I just find his article lacks substance and 'reality'. I trust the Guardian can do better with the next writer.

hey, where did my huge post on this go?

I was going to add to it that the Guardian is mostly lefty drivel anyway; oh, boo hoo there was a 3 hour delay at Heathrow become some BROWNIE SCUM had to be stripsearched, or my cat got stuck in a tree and had to wait TEN MINUTES for the firemen to rescue dear moggy.

While the Daily Mail is sensationalist bullshit, whose MO is to incite hatred, mistrust and anger in... well, everyone and everything; you have the Guardian which whines about police state Britain and such, with added melodrama.

Actually, don't read any newspapers, they're time consuming and rather wasteful when the electronic equivalent is nice and disposable.
