My own opinion is that karma may have been responsible- I was born in a democracy here in England and those in China are not allowed to think or express an opinion as we do here.

I am proud of the Chinese banding together, people helping each other and people leaving their jobs in other parts of the country to help their kin ( and mine)
It has also made the governement look at the one child policy and are allowing more children to be born as many familes have been wiped out as mainly schools were affected- perhaps a way of nature to rebalance things?

Its a shame a tragedy happened to make the government to take action.. my own mother was left to die by a river as she was not a boy.. am sure many such things have happened similar. Mine was recued by her nanny otherwise I would not exist.

The word 'karma' has been misused, misunderstood and hijacked.

I always cringed whenever I hear the word ( in cantonese) 'po yeang' especially when someone attributed the birth of children with defects as 'po yeang' on the parents. I often wonder if there is justice as the word 'po yeang' implied, why the 'po yeang' do not visit the parents and have to visit the child. If the parents deserved to have 'po yeang' these parents are probably lacking in humanity so 'po yeang' on their children are unlikely to affect them.

Seeing and explaining 'natural disasters' or 'Acts of God' as 'karma' or 'po yeang'; is infantile, ignorant and lacking in humanity. It says more of the person that utters 'such drivel' then its intended recipent

Apparently, a mega earthquake is scheduled to visit the shores of western USA travelling all the way to Vancouver, ( which statistically could happen tomorrow) which would caused great hardship throughout the world. Would Sharon Stone then 'used the word karma?' to describle the subsequent death and disaster?.

Karma actual means that every action is caused and every action has effects, in a scientific sense in a deterministic universe.
It is a philosophical word rather than a superstitious word.

Hmm I think you may view karma differently if your family had a curse on it
( as mine does) apparently it is due to my great great grand father bured in the wrong feng shui and can only be lifted if he is dug up and reburied in the right feng shui.. not much chance of that happening as I wouldnt know where to start except Hoi Ping!

There are many unexplained things in life- some we are not supposed to understand..I personally thing society had got too globalized amd materialistic and humanity and strength in society values needed to be reimplemented. Thats my opinion especially living in London..
