|
|
Hello all, have followed these forums for a while but finally felt the need to post after reading yet another anti-Chinese article posted on Sky News by Holly Williams, who must be on of the least subjective reporters I have ever seen. Recent articles included 'shocking' exposes on the fact Chna has the death penalty, reports on the 'atrocious' fact that Cat meat is eaten, that there is a sex trade in China etc etc
Biased media is nothing new, but what does dismay me are the ignorance of comments left by many viewers - the typical @lets boycott everything made in china etc etc"
Not sure if theres much scope for discussion here, but feel so much better at getting this off my chest! |

Here are some comments posted by some of the readers...
"China is with out a doubt one of the worst countries on earth, people living in constant fear of being accused of crimes they didn't commit, fear of torture and a place where if you dare have more than one child then the government will take the child off you and dispose of it, what an absolute hole!
The chinese government constantly ban outside media sources to prevent their own people from finding out what is really going on in their own country.
A vile place, a country that is stuck in the 1800s somewhere. High time somehing was done about it. Amnesty international risk life and limb to bring these facts to light in the vain hope that someone with a concience will sort it out and for that they should be applauded, China should hang its head in shame."
"there is an old saying " the more you squeeze, the more things slip through your fingers" and in China's case, its more likely to happen there. The old empire was in turmoil too before it fell, maybe the chinese know they are losing their grip and can't control what's happening, so kill as many as possible to make a statement that they are in control. In the end, those in control lose it, "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" China: take note."
"Tinnamen Square-a travesty. What have the Chinese learnt all these years past - NOTHING!!! This brutal regime goes from bad to horrific. We [Britain] should not have gone to the Olympics or have any relation with China at all. We [the world] have condoned all the atrocities of this barbaric nation for long enough. B.H." |

This comment sums up the ignorance and patronising ideas of superiority many in the west hold - it follows an article which talked about how cat meat is eaten..
"China is still in its primitive state despite its suposed raising of standard living conditions. The whole idea of slaughtering cats for the sole purpose of eating the cats is barbaric and must cease.
China must begin looking forward to a better and more humane world if it's going to compete with modern techologies and the west. Boycotts against China and the killing of cats will soon begin throughout the golobe, and the sooner the better, unless China stops the slaughtering of cats."
Again everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but when western Europe is guilty of activities which are widel perceived as shameful - battery farming, fox hunting, bull fighting, significant cases of paedophilia within the church, the whole ned/chav culture where elderly people are too afraid to walk the streets...glass houses and all that.
I remember in numerous cities in China and Hong Kong seeing scores of elderly people practising tai-chi and dancing in town squares and streets at night and thought to myself what would be the chances of people in the UK being able to do that withought attracting a torrent of abuse from neds and chavs within minutes.. |

Pot kettle black. I bet the commentators slagging off China are the same creepy old men who visit the brothels near their local street in Middle England.
They can say whatever they want about China and its people - they (the Chinese in China) won't care. Britain is sh*t too, just in different ways. Do you prefer random street violence, drunken chavs and various nutjobs released from mental asylum because of lack of space? Or dodgy products and loose/zero regulations? Apples and oranges - both rotten.
This kind of country/people/race/religion bashing has gone on forever - Brits/anglo-saxons are just more experienced in it, having been in more wars and atrocities (something called slavery?) since time began. Add up all the wars, atrocities and injusties in white history and compare that to oriental history. Nuff said.
Furthermore, Sky News is part of the News Corp owned by Murdoch - who are also in charge of FOX News. |

Cat is rubbish anyway, no taste, you have to drown in spices to make it taste of anything decent. Give me duck any day. |
