Hong Kong has always been an unique place in unique times. She has weathered many storms in the past and will no doubt do so in the future. She has successfully leverage her strengths as a financial, logistics and services centre, and her Rule of Law, to capitalise on the dynamism of the China economy. As China continues to drive the globalisation of the 21st Century, the future is full of promise.

But this globalisation also means that it is no longer enough to compete with one's neighbours. The game has become competition with the whole world as outsourcing, offshoring inclduing capital and services move around the world.

We need to stay on top with understanding the world. Above all, we need to stay on top with understanding the Motherland.

Best wishes to Hong Kong for the 10th Anniversary of the Handover.

I hope that Hong Kong continues to prosper in many ways, and that it grows into a more important, if not exciting place that attracts various kinds of people to visit too.
