Indeed, many people do exercise their right to vote. However, voter turnout has decreased over the years. Levels of non-registration are particularly high amongst certain population group such as Black Africans, British Chinese and young generation. * Why don’t Chinese vote? * Why don’t the younger generation vote? * How to promote civic participation and encourage political engagement? * Beyond voting, any other ways of involvement? * How to raise the political awareness amongst the Chinese in Britain? Who This conference provides an opportunity for members of the public especially the leaders and representatives from the Chinese community in UK to discuss future action and approach on increase electoral registration and promote the civic education and engagement. It also aims to raise political awareness amongst the Chinese community in Britain. We aim to bring together key stakeholders to share their views and address the issues of promoting more engagement, more involvement, registered and vote, making Chinese votes counts.
