This month is the 10th anniversary of the death of Stephen Lawrence.
One of most famous victims of a racial attack in Britain, the tragic death of Stephen Lawrence brought about a string of government initiatives after the Macpherson inquiry severely criticised the police for its handling of the Stephen Lawrence murder investigation.
Dimsum marks this anniversary by looking at inter racial relations in the UK in the past ten years. Over the next month, we will bring you interviews and articles about Chinese people in the arts, politics and social groups who are striving forward for the Chinese community. We also bring you personal perspectives on interracial relationships from our contributors.
Sun is Shining Still?
In March last year, Dimsum featured play "Sun Is Shining" by the
Chinese theatre group Mu-Lan. This month, with its remount at the BAC as
part of the prestigious "Critics Choice at BAC" season, Dimsum spoke to Paul
Courtenay Hyu about some of the issues currently faced by the group set up'to shatter oriental stereotypes'.
