A Concert by Chinese singer Tan Weiwei Tan Weiwei, one of China’s most popular pioneering singers will meet her fans in Soho Theatre on September 3, 2011.
Combining beauty with amazing performance skills, Tan Weiwei perfected both the roles of love song girl and rock & roll lady. After winning runner-up of Super Girls, an experimental Chinese singing contest in 2006, Tan Weiwei decided to pursue a dream in composition.
In 2009, the release of Tan Weiwei’s first album brought her back into the spotlight of China’s music scene. These experimental rock & roll songs also won her recognition as 2011’s “Most Popular Pioneering Female Singer” and the “Best Chinese Language Female Singer” in the eleventh Chinese Language Entertainment Awards.
On September 3, 2011, Tan Weiwei will share with a London audience her songs and her life experience. This is a free event and a rare opportunity to experience experimental music from China.
