There is growing evidence that Chinese emigrants show increased rates of gambling-related problems; these problems are associated with significant distress to those affected and their families. However, little data is available about the gambling problems of Chinese in the UK. Also, there is very little information about the other health problems, such as depression and anxiety that co-occur with gambling difficulties, and that can impair treatment of those affected. If we knew more, it might be possible to improve interventions for Chinese who are affected.
To fill this gap, a web-based survey of Chinese gamblers in the UK will help to illuminate the nature of gambling problems and other psychological problems faced by the Chinese minority here.
