Chen's lively style of writing and ability to cut through the mirings of murky politics with a rapier-like wit, sees her up for the Blog Prize. Anna Chen - first Chinese to be longlisted for political contributions Chen, the first Chinese to be longlisted for this British Prize, joins an impressive lineup including Gideon Rachman, (Foreign Affairs - Financial Times) and David Smith (Africa Correspondent, The Guardian) amongst the 14 longlist of nominations for 2010. The prize in each of the three categories (Book, Journalism and Blog) will go to those who are judged to have best achieved George Orwell's aim of making 'political writing into an art'. A shortlist of six will be announced at Thomson Reuters, Canary Wharf on Thursday 15th April at 7pm. About the Orwell Prize The Orwell Prize was established in 1993 to reward, celebrate and promote work that helps nurture the discussion of politics. This Blog category was created in 2009 in recognition of the impact and validity of modern online journalism.
