With the support of Dimsum.co.uk, Pearl Multimedia will be hosting an event to show what lies ahead for the future leaders and entrepreneurs of the UK and China. Presented by David Tang KBE the event will be held on Wednesday 8th October 2008 and the keynote speech will be given by HRH Prince Andrew Duke of York. Prince Andrew, The Duke of York, is the second son and third child of Her Majesty The Queen, born at Buckingham Palace in 1960. He is fourth inline to the throne. The Duke of York served for 22 years in the Royal Navy, as a helicopter pilot, and saw active service during the Falklands campaign of 1982. On leaving the Royal Navy in 2002, His Royal Highness took up a new role as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. In this role, The Duke of York is responsible for supporting and promoting the growth of UK business overseas, both in general and also in assisting specific companies with particular issues at the highest level, as well as promoting the UK overseas as an attractive destination for inward investors to the UK. In 2007, in his capacity as the Special Representative, The Duke of York undertook 357 engagements in support of trade and investment (an average of 6.8 per week), including 240 engagements overseas and 117 visits, meetings or calls in the UK. This included overseas visits to: The World Economic Forum in Davos; Eire; Spain; Germany; The Middle East (Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE); Brazil; Japan and Mongolia; Belgium; Malaysia and Singapore; Slovenia; Morocco; Algeria and Libya. In addition, The Duke of York carries out Royal duties in support of The Queen and is the working patron of over 150 organisations, mainly charities. The UK’S Interests in China and China’s interest in the UK has never been stronger than in the 21st century.
