Kids Up Hill, a French production company, are looking for genuine expectant Mothers as well as Mother's with newborn babies for a series for interviews covering a range of pre- and post-natal care.
The requirements are quite specific (see below) and would involve interviewing selected candidates in their homes. The interviews will be shown online on websites in Asia.
A fee is available of £300.00 (and £200.00 for the Father in Video 2) and we shall be shooting interviews in the middle of April.
We are particularly keen to interview Chinese/Oriental Mother's but must be fluent English-speakers and London-based. Interviewees must be comfortable talking candidly on camera on issues including the Immune System; Allergies; Breast-feeding and C-Sections.
Those interested should email Casting Director Andrew Fawn via [email protected]
Requirements (though these can be adjusted):
1st VIDEO: THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM, KEY ELEMENT OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
The mom we’re looking for:
-she had at least experienced one pregnancy or she’s currently pregnant;
-she remembers how she felt during the first quarter (1 to 3 months) of her pregnancy;
-she is not shy / embarrassed to share with us the details about how she felt emotionally during these first months (first quarter);
-she experienced, at least, one or all of these symptoms: disturbed digestion, constipation and nausea because they’re linked to the digestive system + she is not embarrassed to share this with us;
-she was also more vulnerable to infections and experienced at least one or all of the following symptoms: colds, sore throat, cystitis…because these are symptoms regarding her immunity + she is also not embarrassed to share it with us.
2nd VIDEO: PREVENTING ALLERGIES
We are looking for a couple.
The mom we’re looking for:
-She’s in the second quarter (3 to 6 months) of her pregnancy.
-She’s having a baby with a man who suffers from food allergies.
-She’s in love with her husband/partner and has no problem with sharing with us her feelings for him: she’s able to express what she admires the most about him, what she would like him to pass on to their child (qualities, temper, physical appearance, aptitudes).
The dad we’re looking for:
-He’s in love with his wife too.
-He suffers from food allergies and he’s not ashamed or uncomfortable talking about it, explaining how it affects his daily life, even when evoking the worst and dangerous consequences of it.
-The birth of his child is a great deal to him: he’s eager to have a child, it represents something special for him, and he can’t wait to do certain things with his child + He’s not uncomfortable talking about his feelings concerning the birth of his child.
3rd VIDEO : PROTECTING THE BABY BY BREASTFEEDING
We are looking for two women.
[The fact that they are friends is more important to us than ethnicity: the subject of lactation is intimate, so we need them to be friends and comfortable when speaking about it].
The first woman we’re looking for:
-She’s pregnant for the first time but we don’t really care how far she is. However it will be better she’s due soon (last quarter: 6 to 9 months) because women often start to worry about lactation little time before delivery.
-She has real doubts and questions about lactation as she’s never done it before + she’s not ashamed of her lack of confidence and knowledge about it (i.e she’s comfortable discussing it).
The second woman we’re looking for:
-Ideally, she has had two pregnancies and breast-fed for both. But if she only had one child whom she breastfed, it’s ok too.
-It would be better if she’s currently breastfeeding but it’s not crucial.
-She’s very positive about breastfeeding.
-She’s comfortable with speaking about lactation or talking about the intimate link that it generates between the mother and the baby.
-If she’s currently breastfeeding, it would be great if she’s comfortable breastfeeding while talking about lactation, assuming that we won’t show her breast or baby at the camera. Great but not crucial.
4th VIDEO : C-Section
The women we’re looking for:
-She’s pregnant with her second child and is due very soon: she’s at the end of the last quarter of her pregnancy.
-She already had an emergency C-Section delivery for her first child for medical conditions: we would prefer if it was because of a narrow pelvis, but it could also be because of other emergency situations (complications during the delivery: the child is breech, problem with the umbilical cord, mother too exhausted or too much in pain to ‘push’).
-Therefore, she voluntary chose to go through a planned C-section delivery for her second child.
-She’s already discussed C-section with her own doctor and is consequently aware of the negative consequences that a C-section delivery could possibly have so she won’t be afraid if the doctor exposes them in the video.
-She’s comfortable with the fact of meeting a doctor and a midwife she doesn’t know to discuss the topic of C-section.
-She’s comfortable with having chosen a planned a C-section: she’s not ashamed or guilty about it (as some mothers claim it’s an ‘unnatural mode of delivery’) and she’s able to explain her choice. |
