Had recently read "The Fat Years", a novel written by a Chinese author by the name of CHAN Koonchung. If you are interested in contemporary China, I sincerely recommend that you should read this book.
Pleased to know that the said book is included as one of Allan Massie's (The Spectator Magazine) books of the year vide: http://www.spectator.co.uk/books/blog/7500508/allan-massies-books-of-t he-year.thtml .
Hope the above is of interest to readers in this Forum. |

'The Flowers of War', a novel written by Geling YAN, is now available (in hard-cover) in the bookshops.
Heard an interview of Geling Yan about her book on BBC World Service recently, and thought it might be of interest to readers in this Forum. Log onto:

Happy listening. |

I haven't read this book yet, but since I'm interested in books especially from people who might win the nobel prize (or have already won it), I think I should take a look.
I wish I would have more time to read though..
The last book were some short stories from Sherlock Holmes. I can totally recommend it. After this crime stories I would love to read something with love and drama. Something with a lot of kitsch, where the woman gets flowers deliverd by his man of dreams. Something like that.. |
